Going by your output channel list, the one audio device per cue restriction wouldn't be a problem if you were only routing to the SFX speakers on their own, so I'm assuming that you're wanting to feed a little of that SFX feed into Pros & Subs? If not you can just route separately. I can confirm the operating level Aggregate Audio Devices work fine for QLab in most instances.Īs you've discovered, you can use two audio devices separately per cue, but if you want to route the same audio to all 8 it would be easiest to aggregate. In summary, unreliable solution provided by myself but a nice short experiment to while some time away.

Repeating each time the group was replayed in Qlab. I also noticed some strange effects to the transient of audio coming through the USB Soundcard output. Interestingly its not always the first cue taking the lead, and they do drop in and out of sync. You get an average of between 6-10ms delay between the two independent streams of audio. Played and stopped Q Lab 4 times to see if delay times were fixed or variable. Use two 1m cables to route audio back into another SoundCard and into Daw. I set up a blank project in a DAW and added two audio channels. One cue outputting to a 4 channel USB Soundcard. Both set to loop so I could test sync etc. I setup a group with two Cues of the same audio file. Looks nice on paper, but there are some issues.

Looking at initial results I wouldn't actually advise using Groups as 'cues' as an actual solution. Right, using separate cues in auto-continue mode is probably a simpler option *if* you don't need sample-accurate timing. The trouble is that per Qlab audio Cue there seems to be only one sound patch option to choose from. What I need is for the first 6 outs in a Cue to be from either the saffire or Motu and the last two outs to be from the other audio interface. Because both sound devices only have 6 outs I thought about running two sound cards from one mac but im not sure this is possible to do in QLAB. In both theatre and studio the outputs then connect to physical inputs on Allan and heath Ilive.įor my next show I need to run QLAB 3 with 8 analog outputs these additional 2 outputs would be for spot FX speakers on stage.

I have recently purchased another audio device (Motu Ultra lite AVB) for the Studio theatre and am also running QLAB 3 and it also has 6 analog outs. I have the full audio licensed version of QLAB 3 and am running it in my theatre with a focusrite saffire pro 24 device with 6 analog outputs.
